Public Areas (Interior and Exterior)
The rights and requirements of guests in the Facilities are a major consideration of our staff. In order to assure that there are no conflicts for simultaneous use, your Event Coordinator must approve all planned events in public areas (i.e., Arcade, Concourse, Balconies, Lobbies, Garage, Entrances/Exits). No banners or event signage may be placed in public areas without the approval of the Event Coordinator.
For specific approved hanging methods for signage or banners, refer to Banners/Signage in the Event Coordination section.
Smoking
Smoking is prohibited in all meeting rooms, restrooms, exhibit halls and public areas within the San Jose McEnery Convention Center
& Cultural Facilities. Smoking is allowed on exterior terraces adjacent to the facilities. Limited designated smoking areas in your authorized space can be arranged with your Event Coordinator.
Facilities Security
SJCVB maintains twenty-four (24) hour security for monitoring the building perimeters, parking areas, and pedestrian traffic in interior public space. Additionally, security staff serves as a central radio control unit for all our Facilities staff. A copy of the emergency procedures plan is available upon request from your Event Coordinator.
You are responsible for providing event security for all of your authorized space. For specific security information, refer to the Event Security section.
White Courtesy Phones
The San Jose McEnery Convention Center has white courtesy phones located throughout the Facilities. By dialing 3500 from a white courtesy phone, you can contact any in-house personnel needed for your event. These phones are for internal communication only. Our system is not equipped to provide outside telephone service on the white phones.
Emergency Facilities Maintenance
Should emergency Facilities maintenance be required during an event, our staff will try to perform it with minimal event disruption.
Message Screens/Reader Board
The interior of the San Jose McEnery Convention Center is equipped with numerous message screens throughout the Facilities. We will display your event title, date and location on these screens. Additional schedule information may be displayed on these screens as space permits.
Exterior electronic reader boards located at the main entrance of the San Jose McEnery Convention Center and the CPA display event publicity information. Priority is given to events that attract large audiences.
If you do not wish to have your event displayed on either the reader board or the marquee, notify your Event Coordinator in advance.
Operable Wall Panels (Air Walls)
The configuration of the acoustical operable wall panels at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center is complex, and alterations may be time-consuming. Any proposed changes should be planned in advance with your Event Coordinator. Last-minute changes can negatively impact other room set-ups in progress at the time. Your Event Coordinator will assist you in determining if changes, planned or unplanned, are possible, and any cost involved in changing the wall panels.
Recycling Program
The City of San Jose regularly recycles cardboard, cans, and bottles. While in our facilities, you are encouraged to support the City's recycling program and encouraged to print brochures only on recyclable paper. Special arrangements for recycling bins can be made for your event through your Event Coordinator.
Baby Changing Facilities
The San Jose McEnery Convention Center is equipped with a baby changing area in both the Men's and Women's restrooms in Exhibit Hall 2 |
