Naglee Park
Experience the quiet side of San Jose in historic Naglee Park and its surrounding park neighborhoods: Hyde Park, Luna Park, Roosevelt Park, and William Street Park. Just a few minutes outside of Downtown, you can find estate homes, old-growth trees, and a small-town residential vibe.
Travel down East William and South 16th Street to see some of the most elegant estate homes overlooking William Street Park. Stay in the holiday spirit throughout the year with the annual 4th of July hometown parade starting at William Street Park and continuing down South 16th Street.
While in the neighborhood, be sure to stop in at the neighborhood's namesake restaurant, Naglee Park Garage. This cozy bistro with a large outdoor patio serves up American cuisine in an unpretentious comfortable cottage-like setting. Check their schedule to catch live music at the Garage and try a few of the local featured beers on tap.
For a bit of history and architectural intrigue, stop by the San Jose Woman's Club Landmark (SJWC). Number 32 on the Historic Register, the building is a 1929 California Mission Revival style structure with beautiful Spanish-style arches, iron work, and mosaic tile. To see inside the venue, attend one of the many events they host throughout the year such as the annual Irish Pub Party in March or the Ice Cream Social in August. The SJWC Landmark is also home to the annual LunaFest Film Festival in February with films written by, for, and about women.

Other fun festivals in the neighborhood include Bark in the Park at William Street Park, or if you're more of a cat person, visit the Dancing Cat where you can make an appointment to play with, cuddle, and bring home one of the cute furr-babies up for adoption.
A not-to-miss local festival is the Luna Park Chalk Art Festival held in Backesto Park with original chalk art created and displayed throughout the park.

As their names suggest, the neighborhoods behind Downtown San Jose are brimming with parks and outdoor spaces. Hop on a bike or follow the Coyote Creek Trail on foot south from Watson Park past Miguelita Creek down the trail to Roosevelt Park, then continue down the trail to finish your adventure at William Street and Selma Olinder Park.
