California Theatre

On opening day in 1927, Hollywood stars came to San Jose to celebrate the opening of the lavish 1,122-seat theatre. Today, it is recognized as one of the best-preserved examples of 1920s-era motion picture houses in the U.S., largely thanks to the impressive $75 million renovation in 2001.

California Theatre’s richly ornamented interior, dressed with gold trimmings, decorative painting and elaborate stencils, rolls out the red carpet for your event. Your name or brand will be animated in chase lights on the original marquee, which has been remastered with a vertical blade sign featuring a motif of California golden poppies. This venue regularly plays host to corporate events, product launches and social engagements, especially banquets and weddings. Let this lavish beauty make you a star!
