Couples Weekend Getaway
Beautiful scenery, incredible attractions and fantastic food and wine — San Jose is the perfect setting for your weekend getaway. Relax and reconnect during your stay in San Jose.
Day 1
Morning
When you awake to interiors and rich finishes reminiscent of Old World Spain and everything at your fingertips, you’ll find it hard to leave your room at Hotel Valencia. Luckily, you don’t have to leave the hotel to start your day. Enjoy an American breakfast al fresco on the Terrace. From there, take a walk along the boutique-lined streets of the European-inspired Santana Row and enjoy shopping under the morning sun or pamper yourself at one of San Jose’s luxury day spas like Burke Williams.
Afternoon
Pack a picnic and spend an unforgettable afternoon at Alamitos Vineyards, the only vineyard winery in San Jose. Nestled within the hills of historic New Almaden, you and your significant other can explore, taste, and discover the unique beauty of the San Jose countryside.
If you want to try a variety of wines, head to The Alameda. This charming neighborhood is home to local tasting rooms like J. Lohr and Coterie.
Evening
After your late-afternoon power nap, head downtown for dinner at Rollati Ristorante. The modern Italian-American restaurant boasts iconic dishes made with seasonal ingredients from various Italian regions. Pasta is made fresh and their full bar offers an extensive selection showcasing both Italian and California wines.
After dinner, catch a Broadway San Jose show (seasonal) or listen to live jazz at the SJZ Break Room presented by San Jose Jazz. And if you’re still not ready to call it a night after the show, downtown and experience our vibrant San Jose nightlife. Head underground at the Haberdasher where bartenders in 1920’s attire will serve you a specialty cocktail, crafted for your personal taste.
Day 2
Morning
Sleep in and enjoy a late start to the day with brunch at Park Station Hashery. Here you’ll find the classic options as well as an extensive drink menu. Indulge on the patio and be sure to take a selfie in front of the rose mural before you leave. You’ll notice distinctive beautiful murals spread throughout the city, see how many you can find.
Afternoon
A stroll through the Municipal Rose Garden – deemed America’s Best Rose Garden - is a must for any couple visiting San Jose. With thousands of roses in bloom nearly year-round, the beautiful sights and sweet smells make it one of the romantic spots in town.
Next, walk over to the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum to browse the largest collection of Egyptian artifacts on display in western North America. Don’t be shy, ask for an expert docent to lead you through the afterlife.
Be sure to eat at Zona Rosa or Luna Mexican Kitchen, which boasts a Bib Gourmand designation from the Michelin Guide, before leaving the Rose Garden area. A great alternative is to head to the artsy SoFA district for a self-guided gallery crawl before finding your way into the SoFA Market for lunch. Here you can refuel with anything from burgers and pizza to poke and ramen.
Evening
For your grand finale, take a scenic drive up Mt. Hamilton to the GrandView Restaurant for a flawless and romantic dinner with breathtaking views overlooking the rolling hills and city lights of Silicon Valley. This classic restaurant features true farm-to-fork cuisine sourced straight from their own GrandView Farms. With patio dining providing a sunset to star-speckled backdrop, delicious food, and an atmosphere so romantic, you’ll never want to leave. Enhance and lengthen your stay in their private and elegant cottage. Call ahead to inquire.
